This dish is heaven on a plate -- I don't say that lightly.
Naan topped with fig jam, apples and brie is seriously one of my favorite eats of all time. I love the complex flavors and delightful mix of textures resulting from a few simple ingredients. The crisp and tart Granny Smith apple is the perfect complement to the creamy nutty brie. And the fig jam acts as a sticky-sweet anchor on the crusty naan bread. I mean really, what's not to love?
Purchase the best ingredients you can afford. Why? Because when you're working with so few ingredients, the taste of each truly stands out. And, nobody likes sour brie.
While I'm as budget conscious as anybody, this is not a time for over-ripened brie, off-brand jam or mealy apples. Remember, a little goes a long way with these ingredients. The best way to save money is to buy only what you need. Bonne Maman fig preserves are delicious and available at most grocery stores. Or, try your local farmer's market for jam -- it's often as good as grandma's!

One of my favorite things about this dish is how easily you can create delicious variations. For instance, Hubby likes his topped with prosciutto and pickled onions, whereas my kids prefer to add pulled poached chicken.
